The ‘Introduction to Classical Matwork’
is the foundation course that will teach you the beginner mat
order with the appropriate transitions. It will provide
you with the teaching skills to teach in a group setting giving
personalised cues and corrections whilst keeping the flow of the
class. The course will cover basic principles and
connections needed at beginner level and how to integrate these
into a beginner mat class in order to provide a safe, very
effective workout. You will also cover the basic modifications
for each exercise to accommodate common injuries and conditions
that can be safely taught in a group environment. You will also
learn the first progressions of exercises in order to build your
clients strength and understanding ready for intermediate level.
The weekend will be spent both working out and teaching
the exercises; thereby experiencing and mastering the
matwork exercises in your body in order to enhance your
teaching skills.
This course is ideal for anyone already
teaching Pilates who wishes to study the classical method or as
a first step in a Pilates career. It is essential that you have
either some teaching experience or some knowledge of Pilates
matwork. Please contact us if you have any queries
All participants will be given a manual
covering the course material. There will be some
pre-requisite reading and study. All information will be given
upon registration
The course
will run from Friday 9th to Sunday 11th March
2012 based in Worthing West Sussex venue TBC.
Assessment will be continuous throughout
the weekend culminating in teaching a portion of a mat class on
Sunday as a final assessment. You will then be
certified to teach a beginner mat class.
We would recommend that you attend
classical mat work classes both prior to and after the course
either with ourselves or a teacher local to you to
increase your knowledge.
